Organisational Review Update – Release to Members – 8 August 2019

OUTCOME OF THE LITTLE ATHLETICS WA & ATHLETICS WA
JOINT ORGANISATIONAL REVIEW

“ONE SPORT – ONE TEAM”

In 2018, with the support of Little Athletics Australia, Athletics Australia and with investment from the State Government, the Boards of Little Athletics WA (LAWA) and Athletics WA (AWA), endorsed a joint Organisational Review of LAWA and AWA. This was a key recommendation stemming from the Whole of Sport Strategic Plan released in November 2017.

The Review was facilitated by McLaughlin Sports Consultancy, with the Community Athletics Council of Western Australia (CACWA) acting as the project review group and aimed to scope opportunities to meet the challenges of the contemporary sporting environment in WA.

Taking place between September to November 2018, the Review involved 40 interviews with a selection of key stakeholders from all levels of the sport. LAWA and AWA want to thank those who participated in this process.

The Review resulted in 16 evidence-based recommendations and a proposed Post Review Implementation Plan (the “Implementation Plan”), which have now been endorsed in principle by Boards of LAWA and AWA. The timeframes mentioned in the Plan will be reviewed to achieve a realistic approach in the implementation phase.
