State Event Officials

Becoming a State Event official is a fantastic way to be involved in athletics and provides the possibility of being placed in a prime position to witness the best Junior athletes have to offer.

Every WA Championship event owes much of its success to voluntary officials. Each season we call for nominations for all voluntary official positions including Chief Judge, Judge, Meet Manager, Referee and general official. Nominations are required as soon as possible but are accepted throughout the season for the following State Events:

–          Junior Carnival

–          State Relay Championships

–          State Combined Event Championships

–          State Track & Field Championships

Please note that a current Working with Children Check card must be held under current Government rules and regulations for best practice.

Official Appointments

Appointment to WA competitions will be competency based and subject to current accreditation, practical experience, support of training workshops and current activity at centre level.

Volunteer officials that nominate for appointment as Chief, Judge or general officials and find that they are not listed are encouraged to nominate for future events. LAWA are in a transition period and looking to develop new officials and opportunities are available at all levels.

Acceptance of nomination will be made available to interested persons as soon as practical to allow for appropriate planning.

Volunteers are also required to assist on each event without going through the nomination process and only require a willingness to help out. Usually this is through Centre rostering but anyone interested should advise the office and we will endeavour to satisfy the interest.
