Broome to host the 2020 North West Regional Championships

Athletics in WA today announced the 2020 State North West Regional Championships will be hosted at the Broome Recreation & Aquatic Centre, home of the Broome Little Athletics Centre from the 18 – 20 September 2020.

The event will feature approximately 200 junior, senior and masters participants, from 5 and 100 years of age, all vying for top honors and an opportunity to achieve their own personal best results.

The event will showcase the Shire of Broome to some of the WA’s best country and regional athletes, drawing visitors from across the State including Exmouth, Port Hedland, Karratha, Geraldton, Bunbury, Northam, Kalgoorlie and many more.

The Shire of Broome has partnered with Broome Little Athletics Club and Athletics in WA to host the event this year and is proud to support the event in Broome.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for athletes across the state to experience competing at a state level competition. The Shire of Broome offers not only the fantastic athletics facilities but also the holiday experience with the attractions and family things to do in the region. Our athletes and families will no doubt enjoy more than just the competition,” said Athletics in WA Chief Executive Officer Vince Del Prete.

The Chairman of Broome Little Athletics Club, Kathleen Thompson spoke of the opportunity to host the event, “We are proud to host the event in Broome and highlight the outstanding facilities the region has to offer, and the talent we have in both athletes and volunteers. We hope this event will inspire more children to participate in Little Athletics and enjoy the many benefits the sport has to offer whilst having fun doing it.”

The Shire of Broome President Harold Tracey said:

“The Shire of Broome is delighted to host the 2020 State North West Regional Championships and looks forward to athletes from across WA coming to compete. Holding state-level sporting events at BRAC is a testament to the facilities available to local athletes, which the Shire has invested in significantly over recent years. The Shire hopes visiting athletes will enjoy what Broome and our beautiful region has to offer after their hard work on the track is done.”
